Yesterday it was Hamish’s second birthday. We only do a party every second year so it was a rather quiet affair but he still had a lovely day.
As it was just family, my invites weren’t up to their usual standards – they consisted of phone calls, word of mouth and Facebook event invites. But sometimes it’s the smallest things that make a moment unforgettable and this birthday that came in the form of an In The Night Garden birthday cake that my Mum made for Hamish.
Hamish loves Igglepiggle because as a baby we bought an Upsy Daisy stuffed toy for a friend’s daughter for her birthday and Hamish was extremely taken with it. Being the poor second child that he is he didn’t have anything of his own so the next day I went and bought him the Igglepiggle. Well from that day on, Hamish slept with Igglepiggle and even still now he often carts his “Giggle” around.
So Mum decided she’d make Hamish an Igglepiggle birthday cake and he loved it. So much so that as soon as the cake was cut and he was given the cake topper he gave it a hug – before biting his head off. Something as basic as a birthday cake with his beloved comfort toy made his second birthday unforgettable.
